Do home stripping remdies for dyed hair work?

i have already posted a question yesterday asking if anyone knew of a dead cert way to removed my permanent brown hair dye from my naturally blonde hair after being there for quite a while. I was very pleased to see some people had the same problem and said it would be best to get it done by a hairdresser. However this is costl and as i said in my last question i dont have much money.

however i have been reading some questions posted by other people who said that they have used things such as fairy

liquid, head and shoulders and vosene and i was wondering if these things actually worked and what state they would leave my hair in afterwards. i have also heard stories that these kind of products on dyed hair could cause hair loss and i really dont want that to happen to me!

please could anyone with experience in using these kind of home-made stripping kits or knows anyone who has please give me some feedback of your experiences as i would really like to be blond again!

ty! x

DO NOT USE STRIPPINGS!! it can change you hair color to orange. or any other colro but nbot you natural hair color. the only way to get you hair color back to normal is to dye it very similar to you natural hair color. you will just dam,age your hair if you do any other remeides that usually dont work. i used to work at a beauty salon store and i seen crazy colors due to hair stripping. and i wouldnt recommend it to anyone. but if you want to go for it., just know you will not get your nataural hair color back to normal with those things

I know that using, Head and shoulders works for sure, Because it has an ingredient, that strips colour gradually. And it has things that help damaged and stressed hair, So it's all good.

Hey I'm having that problem right now myself...I was told to use Dawn dish soap, or just any kind of shampoo that is not for 'color treated hair' (that makes your color seal in more). Also it helps if the shampoo has alcohol in it; that's what I was told and I'm trying that now...

make sure to wash your hair a lot! fades way more that way

if you put a stripper on there, you will have to end up coloring it again, if your intention is to not color your hair any more, then dont. Wait and let it grow out and cut it off. leaving nothing but your natural color.

You'll need to go to your local beauty supply shop, i.e. Sally, and ask for "Color Remover". You may want to pick up 2-3 boxes, depending on the thickness, length and color of your hair. For example, If you have Shoulder length, fine hair, and the color you are wearing now is medium brown, one box will do.

But, if you have shoulder length, thick hair, and it's dark brown, you'll need 2 boxes. They aren't so bad on your hair either, much better than trying to lighten your hair back to blonde from coloring. After you strip your hair with the color remover, make sure you use a deep conditioning agent, such as placebo, or something your stylist reccomends. I use the mud pacs available at sally beauty supply.

I've experienced the same problem as you, my hair is light brown/auburn, and once someone messed me up and dyed it black in cosmetology school. This is the only thing that worked for me.

Good luck!

the problem with using things like head and shoulders (which actually, alot of shampoos strip the hair of it's dyed color gradually) is that it's done gradually and you'll end up with a hair color that's not too pretty. you don't want to end up with orange hair or anything like that.

if you really can't make it to the salon, then instead of stripping, why don't you start gradually dying your hair lighter. each time you can use a lighter dye. or I've used Born Blonde (I have dark brown hair that I've dyed many a color) by Clairol. and I was dark brown before I went blonde and it worked great.

the thing about going to the salon for stripping is that stripping the hair is such a tramatic thing to your hair and doing it yourself you risk damaging it. if you strip I really recommend you going to the salon. other than that, try the born blonde stuff or start dying your hair lighter...and don't forget to deep condition...

A stripper (store bought) will remove a lot of the color, but it won't turn you back to your natural color. What it will do is make your hair look really brassy (orangish). You will have to follow it with a toner like a semi-perm color...but this is really tricky because your hair will be porous from the stripper, so you will likely get a weird/ugly tone when you put color on it. This is why people recommended that you go to a good salon to get it fixed...but you are right, it will cost you because this is considered a corrective color.

My suggestion would be to just try and fade the color up to take the intensity away. Mix baking soda with shampoo and wash your hair a couple of times.

FYI...anyone who tells you to dye it lighter doesn't know what they are talking about...color doesn't lighten color. What will happen is that your roots will be the color on the box, and the rest of your hair will still be dark. Bleach is the only thing that will lighten the color, and you definitely don't want to do that.

Hey.

I had black hair, hair dye was meant to be dark brown but obviously not, i decided i wanted blonde hair so i started using fairy liquid, vosene and i already used head and shoulders, and trust me, this stuff does not work, and will deffo not get you back to blonde, at the maximum probably a medium brown? I did however get my hair stripped, people dont realise this can be done at home also but getting it done in a salon is a lot better if you dont want patchy hair! Talking to hair consultants thats all i can suggest sorry, as nothing else really works! if it did, there would be no stripping in salons? Hope I helped and good luck getting your hair back to blonde, afterall its so much nicer in the summer!
